All ancient sun-drenched civilizations have had variations of pizzas; from the ancient Egyptians to the Romans of Pompeii; the most authentic pizza known was made in Naples around 1858, but the recipe had been known since the 17th century.

In the 1960s, the first pizzas were introduced in the Scandinavian countries and were moulded to their own customs and culinary specialities, which have made them some of the best in the world.
